Annie Turk
Counseling Intern
Healing does not happen in a straight line (and that’s perfectly okay).
My name is Annie, and my goal is to build a compassionate, encouraging partnership where you feel truly seen and heard. Together, we’ll create a safe space where every part of you is free to be themself and grow.
My path to counseling was not linear. After receiving my Bachelor’s in Communication Studies, and working at a magazine, I realized that my drive was deeper than writing - it was about the human connection. Having navigated my own journey, I wanted to provide the same life-changing support I once received. Today, as I pursue my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Play Therapy at UNC Charlotte, I find nothing more rewarding than helping clients rediscover their strengths. Understanding how my own journey was shaped by experience working across the lifespan, with children, teens, and adults, informs the way I practice honoring every aspect of your whole unique self.
For children, I use a child-centered approach, as I believe that they have the tools and the courage within them to work towards a place of progress. We do this in a language that makes sense to them - play. When working with adolescents and adults, I encourage authenticity and vulnerability while understanding how the past can give us insight to the present. You are the guide of your own journey, and I believe in pulling from several expressive and experiential modalities, including Adlerian therapy, to give you the tools for your journey towards fulfilment and change. I am honored to walk alongside you as you embrace self-compassion and healing.
Outside of work you can find me iceskating, crafting, or spending time with my family, friends, and dogs.
